YogaFlix is a monthly film series that showcases intriguing documentaries exploring what it means to be human. Each month features a different documentary (not all films are about “yoga”) and supports a local nonprofit doing important work that contributes to making our community a safe, healthy, and exciting place to live.
March’s screening features The Crash Reel in support of LoveYourBrain Foundation.
LoveYourBrain is a nonprofit organization that improves the quality of life of people affected by traumatic brain injury. LoveYourBrain launched 10 years ago by the family of professional snowboarder, Kevin Pearce, who sustained a near-fatal TBI while training for the Vancouver Olympics.
The foundation operates on the premise that mindfulness, yoga, and community are essential to transforming the wellbeing of people with TBI and their caregivers and now has local yoga programs operating across the United States & Canada. Full Circle Yoga & Therapy is the LoveYourBrain partner yoga studio in Utah.
The Crash Reel features the rise of professional snowboarder, Kevin Pearce, and his drive to be the best in his sport as he trains for the 2010 Olympics. In late 2009, he suffers a near-fatal traumatic brain injury that permanently alters the course of his career and ability to stay in the sport he loves.
As Kevin fights to recover and adjust to the life changes of his accident, the audience gets an intimate perspective of the complex and life-long process that is healing from traumatic brain injury.
Advance registration is set at the suggested donation rate of $10. Should you wish to make a contribution in an amount other than the $10 recommendation to our partner nonprofit, we will be accepting donations via cash and credit card at the event. Advance registration is not required.
